Launched in 2018, the Prix International des Musiques Urbaines et du Coupé-Décalé (Primud) has established itself as one of the most renowned music awards in French-speaking Africa.

For its tenth anniversary, the ceremony took place during the night of October 10 to 11 at the Abidjan Exhibition Park.

This edition will be remembered as a turning point for Himra.

The artist walked away with four major awards — Best Urban Collaboration, Best Ivorian Rap Artist, Hit of the Year, and Best Francophone Rap Artist — before topping it all off with the Primud d’Or, the highest distinction of the ceremony.

This quartet, crowned by the top prize, sets a record in the history of the Primud. It crowns a year in which Himra has multiplied milestones: high-profile international collaborations, growing presence on stages and in media across the continent, and even a pre-nomination for the Grammy Awards. In other words, a trajectory that goes beyond local borders and confirms his influence in the Afro-urban music scene.

Absent from the venue, Himra still sent a video message to his supporters gathered in Abidjan:

“I dedicate this Primud d’Or to all the Ultras, the best fan base in Africa. I dedicate this trophy to hard work and perseverance.”

A brief and direct statement — greeted with loud applause — that captures the artist’s mindset: focus, consistency, and a sense of teamwork, reports Music in Africa.

With the Primud d’Or and several other trophies, Himra has set the bar very high for what comes next.
