On the sidelines of the UN General Assembly, Moroccan diplomacy reaffirmed its central role in promoting multilateralism and international dialogue.

From September 23 to 29, 2025, during the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York, Morocco stood out through an intense diplomatic activity led by Nasser Bourita, Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccan Expatriates. Over the course of a week, the Moroccan Foreign Minister held numerous high-level bilateral and multilateral meetings, reflecting the growing credibility and influence of the Kingdom on the international stage.

Among the highlights of this diplomatic sequence was his meeting with Annalena Baerbock, President of the UN General Assembly, which focused on revitalizing multilateralism, reforming the UN system, and holding consultations on the future Secretary-General of the United Nations. These discussions emphasized Morocco’s contribution to modernizing global governance and promoting a more balanced and inclusive international order.

The Moroccan minister also held talks with several African and European counterparts, including those of Djibouti, Sierra Leone, and Iceland, to strengthen regional cooperation, food security, and sustainable development policies. His meeting with José Manuel Albares, Spain’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, reaffirmed the strength of the strategic partnership between Rabat and Madrid, based on mutual trust and Spain’s continued support for Morocco’s autonomy plan for the Sahara.

Moroccan diplomacy also shone through constructive discussions with Brazil, Canada, Kenya, Gabon, and Togo, reflecting the diversity of Morocco’s alliances and its openness to all five continents. A joint roundtable with the African Union and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation further deepened regional synergies on climate, energy, and cultural issues.

Through its ability to engage with all partners, build bridges between North and South, and uphold inclusive multilateralism, Morocco has established itself as a reliable and respected interlocutor. This diplomatic marathon, methodically led by Nasser Bourita, embodies a proactive diplomacy — grounded in principles yet focused on the challenges of tomorrow.

In New York, Morocco’s voice resonated clearly: that of a nation committed to peace, stability, and cooperation, faithful to the vision of His Majesty King Mohammed VI for a fairer and more united world.
