Zambia and Zimbabwe have strengthened their cooperation through the signing of two memoranda of understanding.

The first concerns the creation of a binational commission aimed at facilitating regular dialogue. The second focuses on cooperation to support private sector development and the implementation of the ZIZOP petroleum and natural gas products pipeline project, designed to reinforce energy security.

These agreements were concluded during the mid-term review of the 18th session of the Joint Permanent Commission of Cooperation (JPCC), held in Harare.

On this occasion, the two parties reaffirmed their commitment to deepening bilateral cooperation in the areas of investment, security, and trade. They also agreed to establish simplified trade procedures for small-scale cross-border exchanges, increase electricity transmission capacity from other regions via Zimbabwe, and improve transport infrastructure connectivity to promote trade and investment.

Zambia and Zimbabwe share a common border marked by the Zambezi River and have maintained relations that have strengthened over the years.
