The International Institute for Sustainable Transition in Africa held its first Annual General Meeting on May 17, 2025, in Marrakech, in a hybrid format, gathering nearly 90 participants from Morocco, 10 African countries, Europe, and North America. This event marks a strategic milestone in the structuring of the Institute, just one year after its creation.

The session was opened by Fatima Arib, founding president, followed by the presentation of the moral report by Laila Mandi, Secretary-General, who provided a comprehensive overview of the activities carried out since the Institute's inception: official launch in October 2024 during the Africa Transition Forum (ATF) 2024, organization of scientific events, establishment of key institutional partnerships (Benin, Kenya, Tunisia, Zimbabwe, Senegal), implementation of governance tools, and publication of policy papers on major issues facing the continent (climate, food security, energy transition, gender, governance).

The financial report, presented by Abdelkarim Khatib, Treasurer, highlighted the mobilization of diversified resources and the rigorous allocation of funds to strategic projects, ensuring transparency and financial sustainability from the first year of operation.

The development strategy for 2025–2027, unveiled by Fatima Arib, is based on five major priorities: actively contributing to the implementation of the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals and the African Union’s 2063 Agenda, strengthening the capacities of local actors and African institutions, diversifying partnerships and funding sources, developing robust monitoring and evaluation mechanisms, and consolidating the Institute’s position at the African and international levels.

Participants praised the achievements made in such a short time and unanimously adopted the three documents presented. The discussions focused on implementing the strategy, ways to amplify the Institute's territorial impact, and the importance of a differentiated approach according to regional realities.

With this momentum, the International Institute for Sustainable Transition in Africa confirms its mission to become a catalyst for sustainable transition in Africa, by combining knowledge production, concrete action on the ground, and mobilizing African actors for inclusive, resilient, and sovereign development.
