The Nigerian government has now become a partner member of the BRICS group. This integration aims to strengthen the country's economic and strategic cooperation with the members of this organization.

Nigeria has officially announced its accession to BRICS as a partner country, according to a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

This decision is part of a strategy to boost trade, investments, and international cooperation to achieve the country’s development objectives.

By joining this organization, which includes several major emerging economies, Nigeria aims to promote joint initiatives in key sectors such as energy security, infrastructure, technology, and climate change.

According to the ministry’s acting spokesperson, Kimiebi Imomotimi Ebienfa, this collaboration will also enhance inclusive growth, regional integration, and Nigeria’s active participation in a fair global economic system.

"Nigeria is ready to engage in constructive dialogue with BRICS members to innovate, strengthen human exchanges, and defend its strategic priorities," the statement said, as reported by the African Press Agency.
