The new Prime Minister of Burkina Faso, Rimtalba Jean Emmanuel Ouédraogo, unveiled his government team on Sunday evening, composed of 24 ministers, according to a decree read on public television.
Formed two days after the dissolution of Apollinaire Joachim Kyélem de Tambèla’s government, the new team features the appointment of two new ministers and the departure of three others.
The Minister of National Defense and Veterans Affairs, Kassoum Coulibaly, has been replaced by Brigadier General Célestin Simporé, who previously served as the Chief of General Staff of the Armed Forces of Burkina Faso.
Former Secretary General of the Government, Mathias Traoré, replaces Basolma Bazié as Minister of Public Service, Labor, and Social Protection, while Commander Pélagie Kaboré succeeds Nandy Somé-Diallo as Minister of Humanitarian Action.
Pingdwendé Gilbert Ouédraogo, formerly the Director of Communication and Public Relations at the Presidency, becomes the Minister of Communication, Culture, Arts, and Tourism and the government spokesperson.
On Friday, the transitional President, Captain Ibrahim Traoré, dismissed Prime Minister Apollinaire Joachim Kyélem de Tambèla and dissolved the government without providing any reasons.
