Military cooperation between Morocco and The Gambia is in the process of strengthening. In this regard, the Corps General, Inspector General of the Royal Armed Forces (FAR), held discussions with the Chief of Defence Staff of The Gambia.

On the High Instructions of His Majesty the King, Supreme Commander, and Chief of the General Staff of the Royal Armed Forces, the Corps General, Inspector General of the FAR and Commander of the Southern Zone, received on Monday, February 5, at the headquarters of the General Staff of the FAR, General Mamat OA CHAM, Chief of Defence Staff of The Gambia, on an official visit to the Kingdom from February 4 to 9.

During this meeting, the Inspector General of the FAR and the Chief of Defence Staff of The Gambia discussed various aspects of cooperation between the FAR and the Gambian army, notably focusing on training and experience exchange, as stated in a press release from the General Staff of the FAR.

While expressing satisfaction with the level achieved in the relations between the two countries, the two officials also deliberated on means to strengthen this cooperation and broaden it to other areas of common interest, including the organization and participation in military exercises, the same source added.

Marked by mutual trust and respect, bilateral relations between Morocco and The Gambia continue to strengthen, especially since His Majesty the King's visit to The Gambia in 2006, and more recently with the signing of several cooperation agreements in the city of Dakhla, concludes the statement.
