Cameroon's Minister of Public Health, Manaouda Malachie, has presented the national strategic plan to combat drugs for the period 2024-2030.

The Cameroonian plan to combat drugs is structured around four main areas: reducing drug supply, reducing drug demand, reducing the risks associated with drug consumption, and reorganizing the institutional response to the fight against drugs.

"This plan aims to significantly reduce the supply, demand, and consequences of drug use in Cameroon by 2030," stated the Minister of Public Health, adding that it involves both proactive measures to prevent the availability of illicit drugs on the market and optimizing the enforcement of the regulatory framework for better control of illicit drugs in circulation.

According to statistics from the National Committee for the Fight Against Drugs (CNLD), 21% of the school-age population in Cameroon has already used drugs. The most affected group is young people aged 15, with a prevalence of 15%, which is higher in school environments.
