The deputies of the Transitional Legislative Assembly (ALT) unanimously adopted the law on information systems security in Burkina Faso. This new law establishes a legal and regulatory framework aimed at effectively protecting information systems, thereby reducing the vulnerability of public administrations and the country's economic development units.

According to Aminata Zerbo Sabane, Minister of Digital Transition, Posts, and Electronic Communications, the law holds particular importance in the ongoing digitization process in the country. "We are firmly committed to the dematerialization of acts and procedures at the administration level to enhance its modernization, productivity, transparency, and accessibility for all users. Other initiatives are underway to make digital technology a lever for our socioeconomic development," the minister stated.

This initiative is part of the government's effort to strengthen the security of the national cyberspace. It comes in the context of accelerated digital transformation, marked by the rapid adoption of electronic communication services and a surge in cyberattacks. The new law thus reinforces the role of the National Agency for Information Systems Security (ANSSI), created in 2013 to reduce the vulnerability of the national cyberspace.
