The capital of Senegal is hosting the 6th edition of the African Youth Kung Fu Wushu Championships until July 12th.

The African Youth Kung Fu Wushu Championships are taking place at the Marius Ndiaye stadium. They feature the best junior, cadet, and minor fighters of the discipline from several African countries.

Fourteen countries from the continent, including Morocco, have confirmed their participation. The other countries are Benin, Burkina Faso, Egypt, The Gambia, Equatorial Guinea, Libya, Mali, Mauritania, Nigeria, Uganda, and Tunisia.

These Championships are a major event in the world of martial arts, specifically in the discipline of kung fu wushu.

The competitions are organized under the auspices of the African Wushu Confederation and the International Wushu Federation, highlighting emerging talents in this sports field across the African continent.

Kung fu wushu, a term that encompasses traditional Chinese martial arts, is a sport renowned for its combination of dynamic movements, combat techniques, and health and fitness exercises. Wushu is generally divided into two main disciplines: taolu (routine) and sanda (combat), thus offering a wide variety of skills and styles to present at the championships.

These youth championships aim to identify future talents, value the work of young athletes, and provide them with a platform to compete with their peers at a continental level.

In addition to promoting the practice of kung fu wushu, this event also contributes to cultural exchange and solidarity among African nations.
