King Mohammed VI has sent a message of congratulations to Félix Tshisekedi on the occasion of his re-election as President of the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

In his message, the Moroccan Sovereign extends his warm congratulations to the Congolese President and sincere wishes for success in the continuation of his mission in the service of the development of his nation and the prosperity of the Congolese people.

King Mohammed VI is pleased with the strength of the cooperative relations between the two countries and their common willingness to strengthen them in all areas, in the interest of the two brotherly peoples. He assures his constant determination to continue the development of these privileged ties with President Tshisekedi and to make them an exemplary model of inter-African cooperation.

Félix Tshisekedi, 60 years old, was re-elected as the President of the Democratic Republic of the Congo with nearly 74% of the votes, according to the figures from the electoral commission (CENI).

He has been in power since January 2019 and significantly outpaced his main challenger, former governor of Katanga (southeast) Moïse Katumbi, who received about 19% of the votes.

In this single-round election, Martin Fayulu, an unsuccessful candidate in the 2018 presidential election, comes next with 5.33% of the votes, followed by former Prime Minister (2008-2012) Adolphe Muzito with 1.12%. The other twenty or so candidates, including Dr. Denis Mukwege, Nobel Peace Prize laureate, did not reach 1% of the votes.
