The Republic of Congo will soon have a state-of-the-art national data center to store and process its digital information. Funded by the African Development Bank with €52.47 million out of a total of €66.55 million, this new infrastructure will strengthen the country's sovereignty in the digital sector.

Located in Brazzaville, this new center is expected to make Congo "soon the only country in Central Africa with its own data center," according to Michel Ngakala, coordinator of the Central Africa Fibre-Optic Backbone project.

The project includes laying 600 km of fiber-optic cable connecting Congo to Cameroon and the Central African Republic.

"As part of the Congo component of the Central Africa fiber-optic project, we received funding from the African Development Bank to build a data center. We are currently constructing a three-story building that can be expanded to include a basement," the African Development Bank specifies on its website.

This project will not only consolidate the country's digital sovereignty but also enhance the competitiveness of the Congolese economy.
