Morocco and Nigeria were the most awarded during the 2023 CAF Awards ceremony. Congratulating all the "champions of champions," the president of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) highlighted the historical performance of the Atlas Lions in the last Qatar 2022 World Cup.

Speaking at the opening of the 2023 CAF Awards ceremony held in Marrakech, Patrice Motsepe emphasized that the Atlas Lions' performance in the Qatari World Cup demonstrates that African countries can achieve significant feats in various competitions. This performance is "a source of pride for Moroccans and all Africans," he declared.

After thanking Morocco for hosting the event, the CAF president noted that the awards of this Confederation celebrate the best players at the African level, adding that this event is proof that African football can be competitive and compete at the global level.

"We must prepare African countries to become football world champions," insisted Patrice Motsepe, adding that the development of football in Africa is a collective effort of all its components. He also emphasized that football has the power to unite Africa. "It is necessary to recognize this role to make the continent a destination for world football," he insisted.

After the 2022 edition held at the Mohammed VI Football Complex in Maâmora, Morocco hosted the CAF Awards for the second consecutive year, celebrating the excellence of African football.
