The African Basketball Confederation (FIBA Africa) has confirmed Angola as the host of the 2025 Afrobasket, following its previous hosting in 1989, 1999, and 2007. Angola was in competition with Morocco and Egypt for the hosting rights of this national event.

Angola has garnered experience in organizing international sporting competitions and boasts modern multipurpose pavilions in the provinces of Luanda, Huila, Benguela, Malanje, Cabinda, and Namibe.

This will mark the fourth time Angola hosts the senior men's Afrobasket.

The last three editions of the Afrobasket took place in Rwanda (2021), Tunisia (2017 co-hosted with Senegal), and Congo-Brazzaville (2015).

The most successful team in the history of the Afrobasket is Angola itself, having won the championship a record 11 times.
