Guinea's economic growth is expected to accelerate in 2026, driven by the start of iron ore exports from the Simandou deposit. The International Monetary Fund (IMF) forecasts GDP growth of 8.6% in 2026, up from 7.1% in 2025.
These projections come in the context of an agreement reached in August 2026 between IMF staff and the Guinean authorities on a 41-month program worth approximately $425 million.
The World Bank, for its part, is even more optimistic. In its October 2026 report, the institution forecasts economic growth of 8.8% in 2026, followed by a sharp acceleration to 11.6% in 2027.
This momentum is largely driven by the expected benefits of the Simandou mining project, considered a major engine of economic transformation. As part of the national Simandou 2040 program, the project is expected to boost exports and support the country's economic activity.
