The Economic Promotion Week dedicated to Somalia kicked off on Monday in Rabat, aiming to showcase Somalia's economic potential and foster mutually beneficial business partnerships between economic operators from both countries.

Organized from October 19 to 24, 2026, the initiative was launched in the presence of Mohamed Methqal, Ambassador and Director General of the Moroccan Agency for International Cooperation (AMCI), along with a high-level Somali delegation, the Agency said in a statement.

Discussions focused on prospects for strengthening bilateral economic relations, in line with King Mohammed VI's vision of promoting sustainable development and prosperity across the African continent.

This initiative reflects the shared commitment of Morocco and Somalia to strengthening their economic ties, encouraging investment and boosting bilateral trade.

Throughout the week, the Somali delegation is scheduled to meet with Moroccan institutions and business representatives to explore new avenues for cooperation. Several strategic sectors are involved, including agriculture, fisheries, energy, water, tourism, hydrocarbons and financial services.

Through this initiative, Rabat and Mogadishu aim to identify new investment opportunities and lay the foundations for an economic partnership that promotes growth and shared prosperity.
