Kenya’s economy grew by 5.1% in the second quarter of 2026, compared with 4.9% in the same period in 2025, according to data published by the Kenya National Bureau of Statistics.

This acceleration is notably attributed to the strong performance of transport and storage activities, as well as the dynamism of the accommodation and food services sectors, which supported economic activity during the period.

Transport and storage recorded annual growth of 4.4%, compared with 3.3% in the second quarter of the previous year, illustrating year-on-year growth in the sector.

Other sectors also contributed to the performance of Kenya’s economy, including electricity generation, information and communication technologies (ICT), financial services, and construction.

These results reflect a strengthening of Kenya’s economic growth in the second quarter of 2026, driven by the performance of several key sectors of the national economy.
