Liberia will participate in the West African Food Festival (WAFFest), scheduled to take place from October 15 to 21, 2026, in Banjul, the capital of The Gambia.
Through this regional event, the country aims to promote its culinary specialties, cultural heritage and tourism attractions to audiences from West Africa and beyond.
Liberia's participation will be led by the Liberia Professional Chefs Association (LIPCA), with the support of the Liberia National Tourism Authority (LNTA), according to APA News.
Under the theme of showcasing Liberia's flavors, people and potential, LIPCA's participation aims to introduce visitors to the richness of Liberian cuisine and highlight its contribution to tourism development and the national economy.
WAFFest will bring together participants from various West African countries to celebrate the region's culinary traditions, cultural diversity and gastronomic creativity. The festival will also provide a platform for networking and knowledge-sharing among industry professionals.
With the support of the LNTA, Liberian chefs plan to showcase a range of traditional dishes to introduce visitors to the country's distinctive flavors and raise the profile of Liberian gastronomy on the regional and international stage.
Beyond culinary promotion, this participation is expected to encourage the exchange of experiences, foster partnerships and create new business opportunities among stakeholders in the culinary, hospitality, restaurant and food industries.
This initiative forms part of Liberia's broader efforts to promote its cultural identity and position tourism as a driver of economic growth. By showcasing its cuisine in Banjul, the country aims to enhance its attractiveness as a destination and provide greater visibility for its chefs and businesses operating in the food sector.
