Zambian international striker Racheal Kundananji is set to begin a new chapter in her career in the United States. After three seasons with Bay FC, the player has signed with Chicago Stars FC through the end of the 2027 National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) season.

Valued at $700,000 in intra-league transfer funds, the move marks a significant step for the Chicago-based club. The 24-year-old Kundananji becomes the club’s first signing since Vlatko Andonovski was appointed sporting director, according to an announcement published Saturday by the Confederation of African Football (CAF).

Having joined Bay FC in 2024, the Zambian forward quickly made her mark with impressive performances, notably helping her team qualify for the playoffs in her first season. Her club experience and her role with Zambia’s national team, known as the “Copper Queens,” are major assets for her new club.

Currently on international duty with Zambia for matches against Uganda in the qualifiers for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games, Kundananji is expected to arrive in Chicago on Sunday, October 18. She is then expected to return to competitive action in the match against Seattle Reign FC.

At Chicago Stars FC, her arrival has raised high expectations. Vlatko Andonovski praised the Zambian international’s qualities, highlighting her experience at the highest level, her contributions to the national team, and her professionalism. The club is counting on her attacking abilities to strengthen its squad and give fresh momentum to its ambitions in the NWSL.
