Senegal and Rwanda are strengthening their partnership. The two countries signed eleven cooperation agreements following the first session of their Joint Grand Commission, held on October 6 and 7, 2026, in Kigali.

The Senegalese delegation was led by Cheikh Niang, Minister of African Integration, Foreign Affairs and Senegalese Abroad. The inaugural session provided an opportunity for both sides to review the state of their bilateral relations and identify new areas for cooperation.

According to Senegal’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the signing of the eleven agreements reflects a "shared commitment to strengthening” the partnership between Dakar and Kigali.

Expanding Investment Opportunities Across Sectors

On the sidelines of the Joint Grand Commission, the Senegalese minister attended the Rwanda–Senegal Business and Investment Forum, organized in collaboration with Senegal’s Investment Promotion and Major Projects Agency (APIX) and the Rwanda Development Board (RDB).

The event brought together public and private sector representatives from both countries to explore ways to boost trade, develop partnerships and attract greater investment.

The forum also facilitated discussions between Senegalese and Rwandan business leaders, creating opportunities to explore potential investments across various sectors.

Through these initiatives, Dakar and Kigali aim to deepen their economic ties and strengthen connections between their respective private sectors.

The first session of the Senegal–Rwanda Joint Grand Commission marks a new milestone in bilateral relations, with both countries seeking to translate their commitments into concrete projects and business opportunities.
