Morocco’s Under-20 national team delivered a strong performance in the North African Football Union (UNAF) qualifying tournament.

The Atlas Cubs defeated Egypt 2-0 on Saturday, October 3, at the Suez Canal Authority Stadium in Ismailia, securing their place in the 2027 U20 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) finals.

Morocco took control of the match early on. Adam Baallal opened the scoring in the 25th minute, putting his team ahead. Just eight minutes later, Sami Bouhoudane doubled the lead in the 33rd minute, giving the Atlas Cubs a comfortable advantage at halftime.

The victory took Morocco to seven points and put them at the top of the qualifying standings, ahead of Egypt, who have six points.

The Atlas Cubs had previously beaten Algeria and drawn with Tunisia. Their latest win against Egypt confirmed their qualification for the 2027 U20 AFCON finals, scheduled to take place in Ghana.

Morocco will now face Libya in their final qualifying match on October 6 at Ismailia Stadium, aiming to conclude their campaign with another victory.

Held from September 24 to October 6, the UNAF qualifying tournament features five teams: Morocco, Egypt, Algeria, Tunisia and Libya.

The competition follows a round-robin format, with the top two teams in the final standings qualifying for the 2027 U20 Africa Cup of Nations.
