Candidates for Cape Verde’s presidential election, scheduled for November 15, must submit their candidacy files to the Constitutional Court no later than Wednesday, in accordance with the electoral calendar established by the National Electoral Commission (CNE).
According to local media, each candidacy must be supported by at least 1,000 and no more than 4,000 voters. The files must notably include a declaration of support signed by the voters concerned, specifying the identity of the candidate they are endorsing.
For each signatory, the document must also include several pieces of information, including the full name, identification document details, as well as the municipality or country in which the voter is registered on the electoral rolls.
The presidential election is scheduled for November 15. Incumbent President José Maria Neves, elected in 2021, announced on Monday his candidacy for a second five-year term.
