The Saint-Louis International Jazz Festival is preparing to celebrate a major anniversary. For its 35th edition, scheduled from May 4 to 8, 2027, in the historic city in northern Senegal, the event intends to revisit three and a half decades of musical and cultural history.
Created in 1992, the Saint-Louis Jazz Festival has gradually established itself as one of the major jazz events in Senegal and on the African continent. For this anniversary edition, the organizers aim to highlight the legacy of an event built around artistic creation, encounters and dialogue between cultures, while opening a new chapter in its history.
The Saint-Louis Jazz association has announced a "rich and varied” programme that will showcase jazz in all its forms. International artists, leading figures from the African scene and Senegalese talents are expected to come together alongside a new generation of creators.
This 35th edition will also focus on remembrance. The festival plans to pay tribute to the artists, organizers and partners who, over the years, have helped build its reputation and make Saint-Louis an essential destination for jazz lovers.
Over the course of its editions, the festival has welcomed several major figures from the global and African jazz scenes, gradually expanding its reach beyond Senegal’s borders. The event has thus become a genuine instrument for cultural promotion and international openness for the city of Saint-Louis.
In 2027, the event therefore intends to combine heritage and renewal: celebrating 35 years of an iconic musical adventure while giving an important place to new talents and new expressions of jazz.
With this anniversary edition, Saint-Louis is preparing once again to resonate with the great sounds of jazz and confirm its status as one of Africa’s capitals of this music.
