Ghana’s labor market is showing signs of recovery. The number of job vacancies advertised in Ghana increased by 4.7% in the first half of 2026, reflecting stronger demand for labor across several sectors of the economy.

According to the latest data from the Bank of Ghana (BoG), reported by the Ghana News Agency (GNA), 19,474 job vacancies were recorded between January and June 2026 in a selection of print and online media, compared with 18,604 in the first half of 2025.

The increase was particularly significant in June. During the month, 3,629 job vacancies were advertised, representing a sharp 45% year-on-year increase, compared with 2,502 vacancies in June 2025.

The trend also remained positive on a month-to-month basis. Job vacancies increased by 3.1% in June, after reaching 3,519 positions in May 2026.

For the central bank, job advertisements published in a sample of media outlets are one of the indicators used to monitor labor market conditions and assess changes in economic activity.

This improvement in labor demand comes amid a more favorable economic environment. Other indicators monitored by the BoG are also showing positive trends, including vehicle registrations, passenger arrivals and container traffic at the country’s main ports.

The increase in job vacancies could therefore represent another sign of the recovery in economic activity in Ghana, with demand for workers appearing to regain momentum.
