Racing Club de Strasbourg officially announced on Tuesday the departure of its Ivorian international defender Guéla Doué. After two seasons in Alsace, the 23-year-old right-back is heading to Germany and has signed with Bayer Leverkusen until 2031.
Guéla Doué joined Strasbourg in the summer of 2024 from Stade Rennais, his formative club, and quickly established himself in the Alsace side. In two seasons, he made 69 appearances in all competitions, scoring three goals and providing nine assists.
His time at Racing was notably marked by a remarkable European run, which ended in the semi-finals of the UEFA Conference League.
Under contract with Strasbourg until June 2029, the Ivorian defender is ultimately leaving the Alsace club to join one of the major clubs in the Bundesliga. According to several local media outlets, the transfer was reportedly agreed for €30 million, with various bonuses potentially taking the deal up to €37.5 million.
At 23, Guéla Doué is thus taking another step forward in his career and embarking on a new challenge in the German league.
The Ivorian defender also comes from a family well known in French football. He is the older brother of Désiré Doué, the Paris Saint-Germain forward, who also came through the Stade Rennais academy and is a French international, with whom he took part in the 2026 World Cup.
