Economic relations between Côte d'Ivoire and the United States are gaining unprecedented momentum.
During a visit to Abidjan on July 15–16, 2026, U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for African Affairs Frank R. Garcia announced a series of major investments in the fields of digital technology, healthcare, logistics, and infrastructure, marking a new chapter in the partnership between the two countries.
The most significant announcement of the visit concerns Starlink. The Ivorian government has officially granted final approval to the American company, which can now deploy its high-speed satellite internet services across the entire country, with particular emphasis on rural and remote areas.
This decision paves the way for a significant improvement in digital connectivity and strengthens the presence of American technologies in the Ivorian market.
Beyond Starlink, Washington also confirmed the launch of a major digital project led by Cybastion. Backed by the U.S. Export-Import Bank, the $170 million investment includes the construction of a national sovereign data center, the digitalization of public services, and the implementation of an intelligent border surveillance system.
As part of this initiative, Cisco and Cybastion will work alongside the U.S. Embassy to support the development of Côte d'Ivoire's digital ecosystem and promote job creation in both Côte d'Ivoire and the United States.
The healthcare sector is also receiving substantial American support. Frank R. Garcia announced the signing of an agreement between ABD Group and the Ivorian government for the construction of $293 million worth of healthcare infrastructure.
This project represents the first concrete phase of the $570 million framework agreement signed in Washington in April 2026, covering the health, education, and water sectors.
Logistics infrastructure is also a key priority of this strengthened cooperation. The American company NTELX has entered into a partnership with the Greater Abidjan Port-City Integration Project to deploy its smart truck traffic management technology at the Port of Abidjan.
The innovation aims to streamline freight transport and enhance the competitiveness of one of West Africa's leading port hubs.
"The authorization of Starlink's commercial services in Côte d'Ivoire represents a major step forward for connectivity, innovation, and American businesses," said Frank R. Garcia, adding that the cooperation demonstrates the tangible results of the strategic partnership between Washington and Abidjan.
U.S. Chargé d'Affaires Junaid Munir also welcomed the visit, saying it had enabled the finalization of several major commercial agreements and given new momentum to economic relations between the two countries.
