Morocco–The Gambia: A Strategic Friendship Built on Solidarity

In Rabat, Nasser Bourita received Sering Modou Njie, Gambian Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Gambians Abroad, who was acting as special envoy of President Adama Barrow.

The Gambian Foreign Minister delivered to Nasser Bourita a written message addressed to His Majesty King Mohammed VI by the President of the Republic of The Gambia.

In a statement to the press, Sering Modou Njie conveyed the thanks and deep gratitude of President Adama Barrow, the Gambian government and people to His Majesty the King for His continued support for their country’s socioeconomic development.

The Gambian official highlighted the bonds of friendship, brotherhood and solidarity between the two nations. He also emphasized their shared determination to strengthen a strategic partnership in line with the guidance of both Heads of State.

Morocco, for its part, reaffirmed its readiness to support the implementation of The Gambia’s 2023–2027 National Development Plan. The programme notably aimed to improve basic social services and promote economic and social development.

The meeting showed that Moroccan-Gambian relations extended beyond conventional diplomacy. They were based on practical cooperation, lasting political trust and a shared vision of African solidarity focused on the genuine needs of local populations.
