On April 30, 2026, Rabat hosted a diplomatic meeting that confirmed the renewed momentum in relations between Morocco and Germany.

Nasser Bourita received Johann David Wadephul, Germany’s Federal Minister for Foreign Affairs, as part of the second session of the Multidimensional Strategic Dialogue.

The meeting coincided with the seventieth anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries. It reflected their shared determination to deepen an already solid partnership, built on political dialogue, economic cooperation and consultation on major regional and international issues.

The two ministers welcomed the positive progress achieved since the first session of the Strategic Dialogue, held in Berlin in June 2024.

Germany also highlighted the reforms undertaken by Morocco under the leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, as well as the Kingdom’s role in promoting regional stability.

On the issue of the Moroccan Sahara, Berlin reaffirmed the centrality of autonomy under Moroccan sovereignty and announced its intention to act in accordance with this position at both the diplomatic and economic levels.

In Rabat, Morocco and Germany therefore did more than celebrate seven decades of relations. They opened a new chapter in their multidimensional strategic partnership.
