The Senegalese Football Federation (FSF) officially announced late Saturday night that it has ended its collaboration with national team head coach Pape Bouna Thiaw.

The entire technical staff is also affected by the decision, which comes just days after the Lions of Teranga were eliminated in the knockout stage of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

In a statement, the FSF said its Executive Committee had decided to initiate the dismissal process for the head coach and his staff following a meeting to review the national team's performances.

The federation explained that it had assessed the team's results and future prospects before concluding that a change in leadership was necessary "in the best interest of Senegalese football."

Appointed at the end of 2024, Pape Bouna Thiaw leaves his position after just over a year in charge. His tenure ends following Senegal's elimination in the knockout stage of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, a result considered insufficient by the country's football authorities.
