The Director of the International Monetary Fund's (IMF) Africa Department, Zeine Zeidane, praised Côte d'Ivoire's economic performance on Thursday in Abidjan, saying the country now has the foundations needed to accelerate its economic transformation.
During a meeting with Ivorian Prime Minister Robert Beugré Mambé, the IMF official congratulated the authorities on the results achieved under the economic programs supported by the international financial institution.
"Côte d'Ivoire is delivering outstanding economic performance and is implementing an ambitious economic and social development program," Zeine Zeidane said.
According to him, the country's macroeconomic fundamentals have strengthened significantly, providing a solid foundation to sustain long-term growth and improve living standards.
The IMF's Africa Department Director also said that Côte d'Ivoire is now ready to move to the next stage of its development.
"Everything indicates that this country is ready to take off toward emerging economy status, thanks to exceptionally strong economic fundamentals. We are very optimistic about its growth prospects and future success," he said.
