President Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema inaugurated Gabon's first sovereign Data Center on July 3, 2026, in the Nkok Special Economic Zone. Built by ST Digital and certified Tier III, the facility marks a major milestone in the country's digital transformation strategy.

Covering more than 3,000 square meters, the Data Center will host and securely store the data of the government, businesses, and citizens locally, ending the country's reliance on foreign-based servers. According to the authorities, the project represents a major step forward in strengthening digital sovereignty and modernizing public administration. It is also expected to foster innovation, attract investment, and create highly skilled jobs. Equipped with partially solar-powered energy solutions and an environmentally friendly cooling system, the Data Center aims to become a benchmark for digital infrastructure in Central Africa.
