Switzerland confirmed its status by defeating Algeria 2-0 on Thursday night in Vancouver, securing its place in the Round of 16 of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Murat Yakin's men took control early as Breel Embolo opened the scoring in the 10th minute from an assist by Johan Manzambi.

Defensively solid and well organized, the Swiss doubled their lead just before halftime through Dan Ndoye (40th minute), putting themselves firmly on course for qualification.

Switzerland has now reached the Round of 16 for the fourth consecutive World Cup.

The Swiss will face the winner of the Colombia–Ghana clash on July 7 in Vancouver, aiming to continue their impressive run at the 2026 World Cup.
