Côte d’Ivoire's 2026 FIFA World Cup campaign came to an end in the Round of 32 after a 2-1 defeat to Norway on Tuesday at Arlington Stadium in Texas.
Norway took the lead in the 39th minute through Antonio Nusa, whose superb curling strike found the top corner. The Elephants responded in the second half, with Amad Diallo equalising in the 74th minute to revive the contest.
As the match appeared to be heading for extra time, Erling Haaland once again proved decisive. The Manchester City striker scored the winner in the 86th minute, taking his tally to five goals since the start of the tournament.
With the victory, Norway advances to the Round of 16 of the World Cup for the first time since the 1998 edition. The Scandinavians will face Brazil on Sunday for a place in the quarter-finals.
