Guinea-Bissau reaffirmed on Tuesday in Rabat its support for Morocco’s sovereignty over its Sahara.

This position was expressed by João Bernardo Vieira following a meeting with Nasser Bourita.

The head of Bissau-Guinean diplomacy reiterated his country’s commitment to the Kingdom’s territorial integrity and its support for the Moroccan Autonomy Initiative, describing it as the only credible and realistic solution to resolve the regional dispute over the Sahara.

He also welcomed the adoption, on October 31, 2025, by the United Nations Security Council of Resolution 2797, which endorses the autonomy plan presented by Morocco as the sole serious and lasting basis for achieving a political solution under Moroccan sovereignty.
