Nigerian football is in mourning. The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has announced the death of former international Michael Eneramo, who passed away after collapsing during a friendly match.

According to initial reports from the NFF, the 40-year-old former striker fell to the ground about five minutes into the second half of a match played in Kaduna. Early information suggests a cardiac arrest.

A well-known figure in African football, Eneramo enjoyed successful spells with several clubs in Turkey and Tunisia. He also earned 10 caps with Nigeria’s Super Eagles, making his international debut in 2009 in a friendly match against Jamaica.

The news has sparked deep emotion within the federation. “This is heartbreaking news. I am speechless,” said NFF General Secretary Mohammed Sanusi, expressing his condolences to the player’s family and the entire Nigerian football community.

Nicknamed “The Tank” by fans of Espérance de Tunis, Eneramo was known for his imposing physique and attacking efficiency. He contributed to several successes of the Tunisian club, leaving behind the image of a powerful and consistent striker.
