Following a historic qualification for the 2026 World Cup, the Leopards of the Democratic Republic of Congo were honored in grand fashion by President Félix Tshisekedi.

Received at the People’s Palace, the Congolese players were praised for their unprecedented achievement: bringing the DRC back to the global stage more than fifty years after their only participation in 1974.

The qualification was secured in Guadalajara, where the Leopards defeated Jamaica (1–0) in the intercontinental playoffs.

As a reward, the head of state announced exceptional incentives: each player will receive a house and a car. A strong gesture reflecting the national pride sparked by this sporting achievement.

The 2026 World Cup, scheduled from June 11 to July 19 in the United States, Canada, and Mexico, will mark a new era with 48 teams competing and an expanded African representation of ten national teams.
