Matias Moutinho and Manuela Paulo have qualified for this year's Olympic Games in Paris, finishing first among African countries in the 470 class sailing World Championship held in Palma, Spain.
The Angolan national team finished the race in 59th place with 309 points, surpassing Mozambique, which occupied the 60th place with 314 points.
This marks Angola's third qualification in sailing for the Olympic Games, following their achievements in 2016 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and in 2020 in Tokyo, Japan, where Angola competed with Matias Moutinho and Paixão Afonso, as reported by the Angolan press agency.
For Paris, Angola plans to participate in over a dozen sports disciplines including handball, basketball, rowing, sailing, canoeing, athletics, swimming, judo, table tennis, taekwondo, and wrestling.
The Olympic Games will take place in Paris from July 26th to August 11th, 2024.
