Niamey: Weapons, Ammunition, and Military Equipment Seized at Eucap Sahel Headquarters

Nigerien defense and security forces seized significant quantities of equipment, including weaponry, ammunition, and military gear, on Monday, February 19, 2024, following a raid on the premises of Eucap Sahel in Niamey. Niger is pointing fingers at France.

Following a raid conducted at the headquarters of Eucap Sahel, located in the Plateau district of Niamey, a substantial amount of arms, ammunition, effects, and military equipment were confiscated and deposited at the Research Section of the Gendarmerie in the Nigerien capital.

In a report broadcasted by Niger's official television, France is clearly being implicated.

The seized arsenal is impressive, comprising 4 drones, 20 Oberland rifles with 438 magazines, 20 Clock automatic pistols with 88 magazines, 24 PA transport cases, 18 rifle transport cases, various weapon spare parts, 21 sachets of 300 cartridges each, 18 ammunition crates, 12 boxes of 1000 cartridges each of 22.3 mm, 373 loose ammunition rounds, 53 boxes of a thousand cartridges each for rifles, 6 boxes of 900 Man Mark cartridges each of 5.36 mm, and 4 boxes of a thousand Man Mark cartridges each for 9 mm automatic pistols.

Additionally, 18 silencer gun barrels, 66 boxes of a thousand cartridges each of 9 mm, 53 hand grenades, a Thuraya device, 2 pairs of binoculars, a box of loose ammunition of various calibers, 2 exercise automatic pistols, an exercise rifle drum, a box of magazine carrier and emergency bag, 2 boxes for accessories, 56 rifle sights, 170 bulletproof vests, 111 military heavy helmets, 3 rams, 5 sledgehammers, 2 armored shields, several weapon pieces, and heavy helmets destroyed by the French, and 7 camouflage tents were also found.
