In a highly anticipated clash that lived up to expectations, Cameroon and Côte d’Ivoire played out a 1–1 draw on Sunday, December 28, maintaining the status quo in Group F of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.

Defending African champions, Côte d’Ivoire, were held to a draw by Cameroon during the second matchday of Group F, in a game played Sunday evening at the Grand Stade de Marrakech.

The goals came from Amad Diallo (51st minute) for Côte d’Ivoire, while Cameroon equalized through an own goal by Ghislain Konan (56th minute).

With this result, Côte d’Ivoire and Cameroon share the top spot in Group F with four points each, one point ahead of Mozambique.

Both teams will therefore have to wait until the final group matchday to secure their places in the knockout stage of AFCON 2025.

Earlier in the day, the other Group F fixture ended with a historic 3–2 victory for Mozambique over Gabon. It marked Mozambique’s first-ever AFCON win, after 16 previous attempts without success.

On Matchday 3, Cameroon will face Mozambique on December 31, while Côte d’Ivoire take on Gabon, who have suffered two defeats in their first two matches of the tournament.
