Olympique de Marseille is considering signing a striker this winter following the long-term injury to Amine Gouiri. The priority for the club’s management is indeed the Moroccan Ayoub El Kaabi.

The first hero of the AFCON thanks to his exceptional goal against Comoros, Moroccan striker Ayoub El Kaabi is on OM’s short list for this winter.

With his contract expiring next June, the Olympiakos forward would notably help compensate for the absence of Amine Gouiri, whose return has been delayed. The Algerian international has still not resumed training and will have to wait several more weeks to fully recover. An unfortunate setback for OM, who have a very busy schedule until the end of February, including the Champions League play-offs, reports the sports daily.

While Roberto De Zerbi would prefer a signing available from the beginning of January, the opportunity to bring in the Moroccan international for under 5 million is very appealing.

With 15 goals and 2 assists in 22 matches in all competitions, the player who had almost single-handedly brought down Aston Villa and Fiorentina in the semi-final and final of the 2024 UEFA Europa Conference League (scoring 6 of his team’s 7 goals in 3 matches) proved at the AFCON that he is still a great striker.
