The Supreme Court of Guinea has approved nine candidates out of the 51 applications submitted for the presidential election scheduled for December 28, according to judicial sources.
Among the approved candidates is the current President of the Republic, General Mamadi Doumbouya, an independent candidate who came to power in 2021 following a military coup.
Makalé Camara, from the Front for the National Alliance (FAN), is the only female candidate on the list.
The seven other candidates are Abdoulaye Yéro Baldé (Frondeg), Ibrahima Abé Sylla (NGR), Faya Lansana Millimouno (BL), Abdoulaye Kourouma (RRD), Mohamed Nabé (ARP), Bouna Keita (RGP), and Mohamed Chérif Tounkara (independent candidate).
The Supreme Court reviewed the applications in accordance with the provisions of the Constitution and the Electoral Code, after subjecting all contenders to a medical examination conducted by a panel of sworn physicians.
