Angola and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) signed 44 legal cooperation instruments in Luanda during the recent official visit of President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan to Angola.

The agreements were formalized at the Presidential Palace following a meeting between Angolan President João Lourenço and his Emirati counterpart.

The signed documents span diplomacy, defense, security, economy, finance, energy, agriculture, health, education, science, culture, and sports, further consolidating the strategic partnership between the two countries.

Among the key agreements are a reciprocal visa waiver and a Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA), both considered essential for boosting trade and bilateral investment.

In the areas of security and defense, the parties signed memoranda of understanding on military cooperation, counterterrorism, and combating extremism.

On the financial and economic front, agreements include public finance management, customs administration, and banking cooperation between the National Bank of Angola and the Central Bank of the UAE.

Additional memoranda were signed in agriculture, mineral resources, renewable energy, health, fisheries, environment, tourism, youth, culture, and sports. Institutional protocols were also established involving the Court of Accounts, the Institute for Administrative Modernization, the Angola Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and the Angola Press Agency (ANGOP), which entered into cooperation with the UAE News Agency.

The signing of these instruments reaffirms the political will of Luanda and Abu Dhabi to strengthen bilateral ties and open new avenues for development and multisectoral cooperation.
