The Constitutional Council has just published, in Abidjan, the provisional list of accepted candidacies for the October presidential election. Here are the main points.

Out of the 60 candidacies retained by the Ivorian Constitutional Council, more than 30 independent candidates appear on the list for the presidential race scheduled for next October. Several young candidates under the age of 40 are also in the running.

A communiqué signed by the President of the Constitutional Council, Chantal Nanaba Camara, opens the phase of possible challenges, as provided for in Article 56 of Côte d’Ivoire’s electoral code.

Applicants have until Monday, September 1, at 6:00 p.m. to file their appeals with the General Secretariat of the Constitutional Council at Plateau. After that, the Council will deliberate in order to finalize the definitive list of candidates.

"The Constitutional Council reminds that according to Article 56 of the aforementioned electoral code, only candidates in this election, or the political parties or groups sponsoring them, are authorized to submit appeals or observations regarding the candidacies,” the communiqué emphasized.

The Council also stressed that any observation filed after the deadline will not be considered. At the end of the challenge period, the institution will announce, no later than September 10, the definitive list of candidates authorized to take part in the vote scheduled for October 25, 2025.
