Billboard has officially announced the launch of Billboard Africa, a new platform dedicated to celebrating and supporting the African music and entertainment ecosystem.
The initiative is the result of a partnership with Global Venture Partners, a Dubai-based venture capital firm committed to promoting economic growth in Africa and the Middle East.
The announcement was made during Billboard’s first-ever Global Power Players event, held at Shoreditch House in London.
“At Billboard, we are committed to amplifying the voices of exceptional artists and telling the stories that shape the global music landscape,” said Mike Van, CEO of Billboard.
“Billboard Africa represents a decisive milestone in that journey, at a time when African music is asserting itself as a vibrant cultural force with undeniable global influence. This new platform will offer concrete opportunities for African artists to connect with international audiences and elevate their talent to new heights,” he added.
Billboard Africa will serve as a hub for African music and culture, offering editorial content, charts, news, videos, interviews, and exclusive events. The platform aims to bring artists and fans together in a global celebration of the continent’s unique sounds.
This expansion also aims to stimulate cultural and economic growth by spotlighting major artists, songs, and albums, while supporting the development of the local music economy, reports Music in Africa.
