African start-ups raised $343 million in April 2025, according to Africa: The Big Deal.

The announced amount represents a significant increase compared to the $50 million raised in March 2025, and also exceeds the $289 million recorded in January of the same year.

"This is not only a solid rebound after a disappointing March, but it is also the second-best April ever recorded, surpassed only by the funding wave in April 2022. Compared to last year, the difference is striking: funding has multiplied by 4.5 times compared to April 2024. A clear sign that investors, while still cautious, remain confident in the continent’s potential..." stated Africa: The Big Deal.

This performance is particularly remarkable as it comes in the context of a global tightening of funding.

African start-ups are capturing less and less funding, and this boost in April suggests the resilience of their ecosystem in the face of global economic challenges. If this trend continues, 2025 could mark a new turning point in their financing after two years of decline.
