The African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank), through its African Export Development Fund (FEDA), has announced the launch of the Africa Film Fund.

This African private equity fund, with a capital of $1 billion, aims to develop the African film and creative industry.

The fund seeks to overcome the barriers the industry faces, including the lack of resources for production and post-production, inadequate distribution infrastructure, and limited access to global distribution platforms.

The goal is to provide African filmmakers with the necessary resources to produce world-class content capable of resonating internationally.

“The creation of the Africa Film Fund comes at a crucial time, as it will help accelerate the growth of Africa's creative sector, which has experienced rapid growth but continues to face significant challenges, including funding, expansion, and access to global markets,” said Benedict Oramah, President of Afreximbank and Chairman of the FEDA Board.
