Kenya's economy grew by 4.7% in 2024, down from 5.7% in 2023, according to a government official.

Macdonald Obudho, Director-General of the Kenya National Bureau of Statistics (KNBS), explained to journalists in the capital Nairobi that most economic sectors experienced growth, with agriculture, forestry, and fishing growing by 4.6%.

"The agricultural sector saw an improvement in its overall performance in 2024, which can be attributed to higher agricultural yields, increased livestock production, and government support to the sector," said Obudho during the launch of the 2025 Economic Survey.

The statistical agency noted that the manufacturing sector grew by 2.8% compared to 2.2% in 2023, with the food processing industry largely fueled by a rebound in sugar production.

According to KNBS, the transport and storage sector grew by 4.4% in 2024.
