The Soundball, a new invention, allows young blind children to play football. This initiative is supported by the NGO Alive and Kicking.

This football, equipped with metal ball bearings, emits a sound when it rolls. Thanks to this noise, visually impaired children can locate the ball and fully participate in the game.

The initiative is led by the NGO Alive and Kicking, which handcrafts these balls in Nairobi.

"Everyone has the right to play, even if they can't see," says Martin Bernard, the founder of the organization. His goal is to make sports accessible to children marginalized by their visual impairment, reports africanews.

In a specialized school in Thika, northeast of the capital, Dennis Gitonga, 18, lost his sight during his teenage years.

"Futsal reminds me of my past and makes me feel included, even though I read Braille and can't see," he shares.

This innovation is much more than just a recreational object: it symbolizes an inclusion that is too often overlooked.

"This ball is a sign of hope," summarizes Paralympic athlete Henry Wanyoike.
