According to the 2025 edition of the International Intellectual Property Index, published by the American Chamber of Commerce, Morocco’s position at the top of African countries in the global intellectual property ranking reflects a strategic desire to encourage innovation and secure intangible assets.

The Kingdom ranks 22nd out of 55 countries evaluated globally, with an overall score of 59.21 points, the report states.

This ranking rewards Morocco's ongoing efforts to strengthen its legal and institutional framework in this field.

The American Chamber of Commerce specifically mentions Morocco’s accession to international instruments such as the Singapore Treaty on the Law of Trademarks and the Geneva Act of the Hague Agreement on Industrial Designs and Models.

Notable advances also include the strengthening of the national patent system. Patent Prosecution Highway (PPH) cooperation programs have been implemented with partner offices to accelerate the processing of applications. Morocco has also established a patent validation system in collaboration with the European Patent Office.

The report highlights a positive dynamic demonstrated by the continuous growth in trademark, patent, and industrial design applications.

This development is supported by the digitalization initiatives of the Moroccan Industrial and Commercial Property Office (OMPIC), including the recent rollout of the electronic business creation platform across the country.
