U17 AFCON: Morocco in the Final Four Alongside Burkina Faso, Mali, and Côte d’Ivoire

Morocco has reached the semi-finals of its U17 Africa Cup of Nations, joining three other African football heavyweights.

The Moroccan U17 national team booked its spot in the semi-finals of the U17 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON U17) after defeating South Africa 3-1 in the quarter-finals on Thursday at El Bachir Stadium in Mohammedia. Ismail El Aoud (13’) and Ziyad Baha (61’, 62’) scored for Morocco, while Neo Bohloko netted the only goal for South Africa (54’).

In the other quarter-final played on Thursday, Burkina Faso overwhelmed Zambia 6-1 at El Arbi Zaouli Stadium in Casablanca. The goals for Burkina Faso were scored by Mohamed Fofana (11’), Asharaf Tapsoba (21’ pen, 77’ pen, 90’) and Halidou Diakité (58’, 68’), while Abel Nyirongo (35’) scored for Zambia.

The remaining two quarter-finals took place on Friday: Côte d’Ivoire eliminated Senegal in a penalty shootout (4-2) after a 1-1 draw in regular time. Mali beat Tunisia 2-1 thanks to goals from Seydou Dembélé (19’) and Raymond Ndjicoura Bomba (55’), with Anisse Saïdi (38’) scoring for Tunisia.

The semi-finals, scheduled for Tuesday, April 15, 2025, will feature the following matchups: Morocco vs Côte d’Ivoire
